Capital Market Day (CMD) or Due Diligence
Service Description
The Equity Story is much more than a simple financial narrative: it is the art of transforming a company's strategy into a convincing narrative capable of attracting investors, analysts, or potential buyers. In the context of a Capital Market Day (CMD) or Due Diligence (DD/VDD), it is a matter of structuring a clear, coherent, and distinctive narrative that highlights the company's intrinsic value, its growth drivers, and its ability to generate sustainable returns. The Equity Story must articulate three dimensions: the strategic vision (where is the company going?), evidence of its execution (past results and key indicators), and the prospects for value creation (growth markets, innovations, potential synergies). The challenge is to make the company's ambition tangible, drawing on solid data and communication tailored to each audience—whether institutional investors, investment funds, or stakeholders in a transaction. During a CMD or DD/VDD, the Equity Story becomes a strategic tool in its own right. For a Capital Market Day, it serves to strengthen the company's credibility with the markets by aligning shareholder expectations with medium- and long-term objectives. As part of Due Diligence, whether offensive (acquisition) or defensive (sale), it must anticipate critical questions from buyers or sellers, highlighting differentiating assets and defusing perceived risks. An effective Equity Story relies on rigorous preparation: identifying key messages, anticipating objections, and aligning senior management, finance teams, and external advisors. The art lies in the ability to tell a story that is both inspiring and credible, that makes people want to invest or engage in the transaction, while remaining anchored in the operational and financial reality of the company.
